Here’s a summary of the excitement:

Monday

The week of sessions run by Grammy award winning producer and engineer, Corin Nelsen, began with highly skilled pianist Kori Carothers (Koritunes.com). This first artist, who’s solo work is also engineered by Corin, was nothing short of breathtaking. This instrumentalist based out of Vermont added a flair and style to the project that was certainly inspirational.

Tuesday

Both a local to the San Francisco Bay Area, and a craftsman of innovation,

Lawrence Blatt (lawrenceblatt.com) added his own personal hint of perfection beginning Tuesday morning.  Well on through Wednesday, Lawrence made his contribution. Being highly skilled in every aspect of acoustic guitar, this well-rounded musician has completed personal work in the past on the electric bass, and an assortment of percussive instruments as well.

Wednesday-

Toward the tail end of the session for Wednesday, master flugelhorn player Jeff Oster (jeffoster.com) came on board.

It was easy to notice a newfound liveliness in the music as Jeff began to bring playful horns to the instrumental arrangements. This seasoned player added has been playing horns since he was a kid.  His playing simply must be heard personally.

Thursday-

On Thursday Denny Fongheiser stepped in on percussion. Denny’s credits certainly speaks for themselves.  Denny has performed and recorded with Tracy Chapman, Bruce Springsteen, Heart, Seal, Counting Crows, Freddie Mercury, and Peter Frampton.  Denny played drums on the recording of the “Friends” television show theme song composed by the Rembrandts.  Needless-to-say, his skillful percussion was a tasteful addition to the eclectic mix of artists and instruments.

Friday

Edo Castro with his 8 string bass

Friday morning began bright and early with stand-up bassist Sam Bevan (sambevan.com).  With a later contribution from master bassist Edo Castro (edocastro.com),  the rhythm section not only filled up, but tightened up the mix, not to mention, added a delightful bottom end that really lures you in.

Saturday-

The Windham Hill sessions performed at Prairie Sun wrapped up on a beautiful Saturday as accomplished guitarist Jeff Garver (jeffgarver.com) stepped into the studio.  With the idyllic scales and bends that Jeff brought to the table, the final intricacies to this spectacular collaboration of artists and craftsmen had truly been completed.
